Allison Bowers is a birth doula certifying through CAPPA. For Allison, the journey to doulahood is very much intertwined with her journey into motherhood. She discovered her passion for birth work when preparing herself for her own birth in late 2016, completed her CAPPA Labor Doula workshop to explore birth work, and immediately knew she felt called to serve other women and their families as they bring new life into the world.
Allison gave birth to her daughter, Ayodele Ann, on March 15, 2017, with her partner and her Doula (Jenifer Bailey) by her side. As a new mother herself, she very much understands and can relate to the needs of women and their families throughout the birthing year.
Both Linsey and Jen have experienced pregnancy loss, so they are uniquely qualified to support women through tragedy. We have personal experience and training in supporting survivors of abuse and violence with empathy and compassion.
We believe in support for every woman who desires it; thus we works with parents where they are, providing as much information, education, and hands on support as they desire.
Jen and Linsey work in a partnership. As do Linsey and Allison. When you book The Ohio Doula you get two highly trained, experienced, professional doulas. While we do have additional back-up, our system ensures you have met with and are comfortable with the person attending your birth. Linsey brings to you years of knowledge and experience in education and labor support, as well as placenta encapsulation services if desired. Jen brings an intuitive nature, hands on experience, great training and certifications, as well as lactation knowledge and support. Allison brings heart, fire, and passion in addition to her excellent training. You will meet with two doulas prenatally. We function on a shared call schedule, but if both are available for your labor, you can utilize both if you prefer. Both of your Doulas will attend your postpartum visit.
